And hes not. But he is alternately known as the King of Telluride and the King of Newgrass, Bush has been honored by theAmericana Music Association and the International Bluegrass Music Association. "Its overwhelming and humbling," Bush says of his lifetimeachievement award from the AMA. "It goes along with the title cut of mynew album, Circles Around Me, which basically says, how in the hell didwe get this far? In my brain Im still 17, but I look in the mirror andIm 57."Emmitt–Nershi Band  (Missouri Ballroom Friday 7:00pm‘Bluegrass Ball’ Traveling McCourys and Sam Bush, Whiskey Jack  Saturday 11pm  Talus Room Sunday 7pm Emmitt-Nershi and Friends)With years of collective experience under their belts, Drew Emmitt and Bill Nershi exemplify the forward-thinking modern bluegrass musician. As linchpins of two legendary jam-bands -- Drew with Leftover Salmon, Bill with the String Cheese Incident--both men have done the stadium-filling,high-profile rock n roll thing to perfection. Along the way, however, theyve honed their songwriting and playing chops and studied the bluegrass, rock and jazz masters they admire. The Travelin’ McCourys (Missouri Ballroom Friday 7:00pm ‘Bluegrass Ball’  Emmit-Nershi Band and Sam Bush, Talus Room  Saturday  7:00pm )Theyare on the road–and online–entertaining audiences with live shows that include some of the best musicians and singers from all genres. It’s always different, always exciting, and always great music. No other bandtoday has the same credentials for playing traditional and progressive music. As the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo continue their father’s work-a lifelong dedication to the power of bluegrass music to bring joy into people’s lives. And with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram, the ensemble is loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful. But the band is now combining their sound with others to make something fresh and rejuvenated.Greensky Bluegrass (Whiskey Jack Saturday 4:00pm, Whiskey Jack Sunday 9:00pm)Ifyoure familiar with bluegrass music, then youre tuned in to some of what Greensky Bluegrass does. Theyre also known to throw a great party, rock n roll, and (if the critics are to be believed) they have great songs. They are unquestionably a team of friends that traverse the country making music they enjoy. What makes Greensky different than Bluegrass? Poignant rural ballads about real people? Dobro tone that Jerry (Douglas or Garcia) would love? Distortion Pedals? Grit and attitude from a whiskey soaked card game? Indeed, but thats just the tip of the iceberg.Head For the Hills (Whiskey Jack Friday 11:00pm.  Whiskey Jack Saturday 9:30pm.)Rootedin the tradition of bluegrass, the music of Head for the Hills is a vibrant mixture of homegrown compositions, traditional harmonies, and aninnovative approach to improvisation. The groups’ lyrical nature and songwriting seems to evoke reminiscent feelings of inspiration. In the live setting, Head for the Hills can venture into the myriad of musical styles and sonic landscapes that caters to a boundless array of listeners.Hot Buttered Rum (Whiskey Jack’s Sunday 9:30pm.)HotButtered Rum’s story is one of evolution. The “high altitude bluegrass”era captured on their first studio album, In These Parts, found the band enjoying success at such diverse stages as the Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, Grey Fox, High Sierra, Wakarusa, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Along the way, the group shared the stage with some of todays most accomplished artists, including Phil Lesh, Bela Fleck, Ben Harper, and Nickel Creek’s Chris Thile. In 2006, acoustic pioneer Mike Marshall produced Hot Buttered Rum’s second studio album, Well-Oiled Machine, and captured the sound of a hard-touring band charting its course along the highways and byways of American music.Weekendfestival passes will go on sale 12/15/2011 and are available by calling406.995.8077.  SPECIAL TICKET PRICING THROUGH 12/24 - $30 OFF "LIVE BIG" WEEKEND PASS.  GET YOURS NOW BY CALLING 406.995.8077!!
